Coffins has been in the doom scene since the ’90s and can be described as a brutal mix of doom and (dare I infer?) crust. The band’s home, Relapse Records, has now announced that the group has entered the studio and begun recording vocals for their next LP, The Fleshland.
No doubt, the trio has unleashed a barrage of music in the past few years, participating in splits, recording EPs, and letting forth some singles to boot, but this new album will be their first full-length since 2008’s much acclaimed Buried Death. Of course, that was when Coffins was under the territory of 20 Buck Spin Records, while this new effort is the first full-length for Coffins under the Relapse flag. Hopefully, The Fleshland will be completed by the end of January, and then we should see the hammer drop sometime later this year.
If, like me, you’re eager to hear something from the new onslaught, the band has already revealed a pre-production demo track for consumption below:
According to the press release, we should see “Colossal Hole” in its refined state on The Fleshland when completed, but it sounds pretty damn good already. It’s got the Celtic Frost dig, sledging along through mud and gore. The end result is doomed to be a success.
