Los Angeles is such an amazingly diverse city, and the shows coming to town this weekend cover a broad range of interests and genres. Whether you’re more of an EDM fan or a rock head, there’s a show for you in LA this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Looking forward to the weekend, here are a few events that caught my eye.
Max Graham @ Exchange – Friday, January 25th – Tickets
After a long week sometimes a night out dancing is good for the soul, so why not check out Max Graham this Friday when he celebrates the release of his Cycles4 compilation album on Armada Music? The London-born legend has been DJing since the late-80s, owns his own record label, has produced a litany of classic tracks, and mixes together a variety of styles to take his audience on a journey, so his show at Exchange is the perfect place to get your EDM fix this weekend.
Ben Folds Five @ The Wiltern – Saturday, January 26th – Tickets
If your weekend is lacking some good alternative rock, never fear, Ben Folds Five is coming to the Wiltern! Counterintuitively, Ben Folds Five is comprised of only three members who first came together in 1993 and who all play multiple instruments. After breaking up for 12 years, the band released their new album, The Sound of the Life of the Mind, in 2012, and the group’s upbeat, heartfelt vocals are melodic and sure to get your feet moving.
Tearist @ The Echo – Sunday, January 27th – Tickets
For those looking to expand their musical horizons this weekend, Tearist’s show at The Echo will not disappoint. This unique duo comprised of Yasmine Kittles (vocals/percussion) and William Strangeland (synthesizers) brings incredible energy to their live shows, splicing together their documentation of living energy, and if Tearist isn’t enough, they’ll be joined for the show by post-punk band Savage Republic, Troller, and Thousand Foot Whale Claw.
