From EDM to punk to pop, like most weekends in LA, this one has it all. Check out just a few of the many musical performances taking place in SoCal this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and be sure to let me know in the comments where you’ll be getting your live music fix.
tyDi @ Exchange LA – Friday, January 18th – Tickets
Twila had a chance to sit down for an interview with electronic wunderkind tyDi back in November, and tomorrow night she’ll be hitting Exchange LA to catch his show as part of Insomniac’s Awakening Fridays series. With support from Matt Lange, this is a must-see event for fans of electronic music.
Pennywise @ The Hollywood Palladium – Saturday, January 19th – Tickets
After three years sans original vocalist Jim Lindberg, the original members of SoCal punk rock group Pennywise reunited in October and soon thereafter announced a pair of reunion shows to take place this Friday and Saturday. As expected, they almost immediately sold out, but on Monday, the band announced via their website that they are releasing a limited number of tickets for Saturday’s performance, available at the Palladium box office on Friday night from 6:00 pm through 10:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm. This is sure to be an amazing night of punk rock (with support from Strung Out, Pulley, and one of my all-time favorite bands, Lagwagon), so be sure to get tickets to this one!
Lady Gaga @ The Staples Center – Sunday, January 20th – Tickets
If EDM and punk aren’t your thing, arguably the biggest pop star on the planet will also be making an appearance in LA this weekend in the form of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour. She’ll be performing at the Staples Center Sunday and Monday nights with support from Madeon and Lady Starlight, so if you’re looking for a spectacle to close out your weekend, this is certainly it.
