Yeah Yeah Yeahs

I feel like the music industry is finally back in full swing this week, especially considering the big news story of the return of Justin Timberlake to the world of music, and this weekend’s slate of shows in SoCal reveals that some of my favorite acts old and new are hitting the ground running in 2013. Check out below just a few of the noteworthy shows happening this weekend, and be sure to let me know in the comments where you’ll be getting your live music fix this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ The Glass House – Friday, January 11 – SOLD OUT
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one of those bands that I keep thinking I’ll catch live at some point, but I’ll be absolutely devasted if they break up before I do. If like me, you keep tempting the music gods by NOT seeing YYY, you’ll want to catch Karen O and co. when they hit Pomona Friday night. Of course, tickets sold out almost immediately, but you’re resourceful right? Make it your mission to find a way into this show, because with a new album tentatively set for release this spring, fans can likely expect to hear some new music from the trio.

Keane @ The Pantages Theatre – Saturday, January 12 – Tickets
This is one of those rare shows where the opening act is as big of a draw for me as the headliner. Saturday night English alt rock band Keane will be joined by LA locals and LAmb favorites Youngblood Hawke for this performance at the Pantages Theatre. This band-on-the-brink is poised to break out in 2013, so be sure to catch them soon because few statements bring with them the same satisfaction as “I knew them before they were big.”

Social Distortion @ House of Blues Anaheim – Sunday, January 13 – Tickets
Social D’s Friday and Saturday night shows at the venue may be sold out, but if you don’t mind staying out late on a work/school night, first off, what a rebel you are, and second, you’ll be in for a great night of music with LA locals The Henry Clay People opening for the legendary punk rock band. Social Distortion is currently working on an eighth studio album, which they plan to release in 2013, so expect to hear some new music mixed in with classic tracks such as “Ball and Chain” and “Story of My Life.”
