New album releases 012213

This is the first week of 2013 that I’ve found myself having to cut down my list of new releases to the standard ten because there were so many to choose from. The year in new music is in full effect, and judging by the talent listed below, it’s going to be a great one.

The Lone Bellow – The Lone Bellow
Billboard has called this folksy Brooklyn trio “one of The Next Big Things for 2013,” and the proclamation is a hard one to argue. They’ll be performing on Conan tonight, and you can expect a review of this debut from LAmb writer Mary Bonney in the near future.

I Am Kloot – Let It All In
During a music discovery jaunt to Best Buy in 2005, the cover for I Am Kloot’s Gods and Monsters caught my eye, and their music soon captured my heart. Though that album still finds its way into my car speakers from time to time, I’d almost forgotten about the British trio until I saw that they were releasing a new album today. I will definitely be checking this one out.

The Joy Formidable – Wolf’s Law
I was admittedly late to discover the greatness of the Joy Formidable, only listening to their 2011 debut, The Big Roar, this past July when the group headlined Billabong’s Design for Humanity event. Better late than never, as the Welsh trio fronted by the mesmerizing Ritzy Bryan is one of the best modern alt rock acts in the game today.
