The holiday season is winding down, and though it’s not quite New Year’s Eve yet, this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are not without their parties. If you’re in Los Angeles this weekend — like me and the 3 other people on the 101 — here are a few awesome shows to check out!

Rich Aucoin @ The Satellite – December 28th – $8 Cover

Canadian indie pop rocker Rich Aucoin seems to be in love with life and just wants to share that love with the world. Luckily, he’s decided to bring his musical shindig to The Satellite tomorrow night, along with a handful of other artists (Professor Possessor, Father Tiger, DJ Channel One, and Justin Cornwall). Blending electronica and rock is Aucoin’s thing, and it’s quite an amazing spectacle to behold. Having just released his debut album, We’re All Dying To Live, expect to hear a great deal from that, as well as his signature indie sound.

Father John Misty @ El Rey Theatre – December 29th – SOLD OUT

Yes, sadly, this show is sold out, but if you’re lucky enough to have tickets (or tenacious enough to procure some), this should be a night to remember. Formerly just “J. Tillman,” Father John Misty’s debut album, Fear Fun, has taken the indie world by storm. His songwriting style is powerful and beautiful, and there’s a very good reason El Rey Theatre is sold out this weekend. Some good news: LAmb’s very own Angelica Corona will be checking out that show and gracing us with a review next week. Be looking out for it!

Ludacris and Kelly Rowland @ Club Nokia – December 30th – Tickets

Despite being the night before New Year’s Eve and a Sunday, Club Nokia will still be throwing a party you won’t want to miss this weekend. Three-time Grammy winner Ludacris (Chris Bridges) will certainly be touring in support of his upcoming album, Ludaversal (early 2013), but I’m sure that won’t stop him from performing one of my ultimate guilty-pleasure songs, “What’s Your Fantasy?” Kelly Rowland, a star on her own for years, was recently featured on Ludacris’ single “Representin,” and between her voice, his style, and this incredible venue, Sunday night will certainly be a pretty cool way to send off this year.
