Are you ready, Pomona? Two special hip-hop artists (one of whom is transitioning into reggae) are performing next Wednesday, December 12th, at the Fox Theater in Pomona, and LA Music Blog is giving one lucky reader a FREE pair of tickets to the show courtesy of Goldenvoice.
Pac Div — a not-to-be-missed hip-hop trio comprised of brothers Like and Mibbs and their friend BeYoung — will be representing SoCal at this special show. I had the chance to see them perform back in February with Schoolboy Q, Dom Kennedy, and Blue & Exile, and I encourage you to witness them live too. Their most recent album, GMB, was released last week and includes guest appearances from Kurupt, Kendrick Lamar, and Mac Miller. The album has received positive reviews so far, and hip-hop fans will definitely enjoy their performance next week! Check out the video for their most played song on Spotify, “Posted,” below:
And, of course, we also have the infamous Snoop Dogg performing that night. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to see Snoop live, but we all know the artist has had a huge influence on hip hop in addition to being a well-known mainstream music icon. Last year he released Doggumentary, which is enriched with collaborations with such artists as The Cataracs, Gorillaz, Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West, T-Pain, Rick Ross, and many others. Here’s a radio favorite, “Young, Wild, & Free,” with Wiz and Bruno Mars:
This year we heard of his transformation from Dogg to Lion after an enlightening visit to Jamaica. Curious to hear his reggae sound? His Reincarnation album is expected to drop in 2013 under RCA Records. Concert-goers may get the opportunity to preview the live sounds of his reggae transition.
