In early 2013, doom metal group Samothrace will be embarking on a multi-continental tour including a stop at the Heavy Days of Doomtown festival taking place in Ungdomshuset, Copenhagen, Denmark from May 2nd through 5th. Joining the Seattle-based band will be the black sludge stylings of Graves At Sea, as well as Pagan Altar, Cough, Procession, Dark Buddah Rising, Conan, and many more still to be announced. After the DIY/doom/sludge festival, the band plans to stalk Europe for an additional two weeks, but before launching said punishing assault overseas, Samothrace has their sights set on a Midwest and East Coast US tour. Dates and locations to be released soon.
Samothrace, which features members from Book of the Black Earth and Bell Witch, received a literal bombardment of media attention in 2012 for their sophomore LP, Reverence To Stone. Released at the end of July via 20 Buck Spin, the album is now spreading into year-end/best of 2012 lists and coverage abroad. The band took the #35 spot in Decibel Magazine’s current Top 40 Albums of 2012 issue with Reverence To Stone, in addition to earning praise from Stereogum, Metalsucks, and others as lists begin to emanate forth internationally.
Reverence To Stone is streaming in its entirety via Pitchfork.
