Rachael Yamagata

My taste in music can be best described as eclectic and fickle. I regularly go through phases during which I subject myself to an auditory onslaught of French electro-house before that turns into a nonstop barrage of classic rock from the ’60s which in turn becomes a love affair with Gershwin’s compositions. These musical phase shifts occur often and unpredictably. However, in my world of ever-changing iPod playlists, there’s one artist that has remained a constant fixture for the last several years: Rachael Yamagata.

Rachael Yamagata is currently on tour promoting her newest EP, Heavyweight, her second project since her break from a major record label. Those of us who missed her most recent LA performance at El Rey a couple weeks ago should be happy to know her show tonight at Joe’s Pub in New York will be streamed via Livestream.com. If you’re fond of soulful, husky-voiced female vocalists who write poignant lyrics that grapple with the good, the bad, and the ugly facets of relationships, then you’ll absolutely adore Rachael Yamagata.

Check out Rachael Yamagata’s livestream tonight at 6:30 PM PST.
