Did you make it through All Hallows Eve with all your limbs still intact? More importantly, are your ears still attached to the ol’ noggin? Because this weekend is full of concerts and music events in LA that you will not want to miss. Check out just a few of the many options you have for catching live music in Los Angeles this weekend, and be sure to let me know in the comments what you’ll be dancing to (gotta work off those Halloween candy calories somehow).
Alanis Morissette @ Club Nokia – November 2, 2012 – Tickets
I’ve been a longtime fan of Alanis Morissette, and while I can’t say I’ve paid as much attention to her recent releases as I did her early albums (I still love Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie), her cover of Green Day’s “Basket Case” on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month reminded me why I love her: the lady has got friggin’ chops. I’ve never had the opportunity to catch her live, but I can’t imagine the experience would be anything less than chill-inducing.
Independent Label Market @ Micheltorena Elementary School – November 3, 2012
I know I already talked about the Independent Label Market taking place in Silverlake on Saturday, but what can I say? I’m excited! The event will be a vinyl-lovers paradise, with dozens of independent labels hosting a flea market of sorts with exclusive album releases, artist appearances, and more. The event is totally free to attend, and it marks the very first West Coast market ILM has hosted, so the more successful this one is, the more likely we’ll have future markets in the area!
HARD Day of the Dead @ LA State Historic Park – November 3, 2012 – Tickets
If you’re at all into EDM or Dia De Los Muertos, this is one event you will not want to miss. With four stages and performances by Justice (live), Knife Party, Zeds Dead, Major Lazer, Kill the Noise, Diplo, and more, this one-night festival is a creepy good time just waiting to be had.
