Hey readers, guess what? The Japandroids are in town next Thursday, November 8th, for a performance with LA locals Bleached at the Fonda, and we are giving away a pair of FREE TICKETS!
The Japandroids are Brian King (guitar, vocals) and David Prowse (drums, vocals), a garage rock duo from Vancouver, British Columbia whose new album, Celebration Rock, came out early this summer (June 5th) via Polyvinyl Record. They have been touring extensively with the “Pitchfork Musical Festival” since the summer and are about to come back stateside to start a late-2012 US tour, which will end in Vancouver on December 22nd, so needless to say, they like to keep busy. From my personal experience, though, the bands that are constantly on the road touring their guts out are usually the bands that are the best at providing an excellent live performance.
Japandroids will be joined for their show at the Fonda by LA natives Bleached, a punk-rock duo made up of the Clavin sisters, Jennifer (guitar/vocals) and Jessica (bass/vocals). You may remember Jennifer from a band called Cold Cave in which she played keyboards and sang vocals, and both the Clavin sisters were also in Mika Miko. The San Fernando Valley-raised sisters bring a psych-surf element to the punk styles of Mika Miko, and the end result is dream punk band Bleached. Take the Go Go’s and feed them a bunch of LSD, and you might end up with something like Bleached. A fun, surf pop take on traditional punk formations with a splash of psychedelics.
All you have to do to win a pair of tickets to see Japandroids and Bleached at the Fonda Theatre on November 8th is comment below using us an email that you check pretty often (so we can contact you if you win) and tell us why you think deserve these tickets. This is another show with a hometown band for an opener and a headliner that is known for putting on an amazing live performance, so be creative and good luck! If you don’t win our contest, you can still pick up tickets for the show.
