Another Tuesday, another set of great new albums. This week’s list of notable releases includes some highly anticipated follow-ups, a couple of debut solo efforts, and a whole lot of good music to help you get through the week. Check out the albums that have us excited below, and be sure to let me know in the comments what you’ll be listening to today!

Benjamin Gibbard – Former Lives
Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard says of the tracks on this album, “They’re a side story, not a new chapter,” so no worries about him calling it quits with DCFC any time soon. However, I did have a chance to hear several of the new tracks when I saw Gibbard’s solo performance at Largo last month, and these are definitely stories worth telling…and hearing.

Ellie Goulding – Halcyon
This one falls into that category of highly anticipated follow-ups I was talking about. The sophomore album from the respected Brit singer-songwriter comes two years after the release of her highly successful debut studio album, Lights, and if you don’t have tickets to her sold-out show at the Troubadour tonight, I suggest you make it out to her performance and album signing at Amoeba tomorrow. Also suggest you enter our giveaway to win a copy of Halcyon on CD and vinyl.

A Fine Frenzy – Pines (physical)
I am a huge fan of Bomb in a Birdcage, the sophomore album by Alison Sudol (aka A Fine Frenzy), and I’ve had the opportunity to give this, her third album, an advanced listen. Definitely a more mature, sonically deep release than the previous effort, and no less captivating.

Mika – The Origin Of Love
Another highly anticipated release from a Brit, this is Mika’s third studio album and one he has described as “more simplistic pop, less layered than the last one.” The artist will be gracing LA with not one, but two shows at the Fonda Theatre this Sunday and Monday, and while the first is sold out, tickets are still available to the Monday show.

Check out the best of the rest below, and be sure to listen to some new music today!

Correatown – Pleiades

Savoir Adore – Our Nature

Godspeed You! Black Emperor – Allelujah! Don’t Bend! Ascend!

Anberlin – Vital

Daphni – Jiaolong
