If former KCRW music director Nic Harcourt puts his name on something, it’s safe to assume that that ‘something’ is awesome. One of the premier music tastemakers, Harcourt runs the gamut when it comes to sharing music, from DJing at KCRW to acting as Editor-at-Large for Music and Culture at the Los Angeles Times Magazine. He also hosts the “At: Guitar Center with Nic Harcourt” podcast series (lucky break for Guitar Center that he was available or that name would have made no sense at all). The series has featured exclusive performances and interviews with everyone from Alabama Shakes to The Crystal Method to Travis Barker, and the most recent guest to step up to the mic is Minus The Bear.

In keeping with Guitar Center’s bread and butter, the podcast not only explores the band’s background and inspirations, but also their thoughts on equipment, which is really cool if you’re a gear-head looking to find out what your favorite bands like to play. During the podcast recording, Minus The Bear also puts their instruments to use, performing several tracks off their latest release, Infinity Overhead, including “Empty Party Rooms.” The song is one of my favorites off the new album, and LA Music Blog is excited to premiere the video of that performance for fans right now!

Head over to the “At: Guitar Center with Nic Harcourt” podcast website for even more exclusive audio and video content (including a video of Minus the Bear performing another Infinity Overhead track, “Steel and Blood”), and if you like what you hear, be sure to support Minus the Bear by buying the new album via iTunes, AmazonMP3, Rdio, or minusthebear.com.
