Samantha Crain

I love Samantha Crain. The diminutive folk artist’s full-length debut, Songs in the Night, was one of my Top Ten Releases of 2009, and her performance at the Bootleg Theatre here in LA in support of its follow-up, You (Understood), was a highlight of my 2010 concert experiences. Her generally sweet disposition mixed with a penchant for dark lyrical themes is a dichotomy that quickly won me over, and now you have a chance to be won over too.

This Friday, Samantha Crain will be back in LA opening for William Elliott Whitmore at The Roxy, and if you get a chance to catch her set, I highly suggest you do so. She blends folksy songs with raucous attitude, emphasized by plenty of boot-stomping, and as two years have passed since her last full-length release, I’m sure she’ll be treating fans to new tracks as well as old favorites, of which mine include “Traipsing Through The Aisles” and “Lions,” which you can check out below.

Pick up tickets to Samantha Crain’s performance at The Roxy, and be sure to check out her album, You, Understood.
