The Avett Brothers

I’ve been a fan of the Avett Brothers for ages, and I’ll never forget the experience of seeing them live the first time. The club was small, the band was sweaty, and the crowd was enamored. The brothers have since moved on to bigger clubs and better things, an ongoing collaboration with Rick Rubin being an example of the latter. The group first joined forces with Rubin on their 2009 major label debut, I and Love and You, and the producer extraordinaire is once again at the helm for their upcoming release, The Carpenter, set to drop September 11th.

For a little taste of what you can expect from that album, check out the ten minute preview the Avett Brothers released via their website today. Upon first listen, I’m really liking “Down with the Shine” and am intrigued by “Geraldine.” “Live and Die” is another standout track with a classic Avett Brothers’ sound, and you can watch the duo performing it on their tour bus in Camden, N.J via the second clip below, courtesy of NPR.

Enjoy the preview and let me know in the comments what you think of the new material from the Avett Brothers. Does it have you excited to check out The Carpenter as soon as it’s released?
