It’s a quieter week for album releases this week before something of a bumper next Tuesday (and as always we will bring you details here on the LA Music Blog), but I’ve picked out a few releases below for you to get listening to, including what appears to be this week’s unofficial competition for who can go the longest before releasing a new album. The runner-up in that category is…
Dead Can Dance – Anastasis
Following a reunion, the eclectic Australian duo has returned with their first album since 1996, this time ’round on PIAS recordings. Definitely worth a listen for something a little different. But they are pipped at the post in terms of this particular staring contest this week.
Lorelei – Enterprising Sidewalks
The Washington DC act has returned with their first album since 1994. Seriously, what were you doing all that time? The good news is that their age means they can’t possibly have been named after a Gilmore Girls‘ character. More power to them.
Insane Clown Posse – The Mighty Death Pop!
Fresh off a Jack White collaboration (and no, I’m not kidding) Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are back with their new album. You probably already know where you stand on these guys so I don’t need to say any more.
And here’s the best of the rest:
Yellowcard – Southern Air
MNDR – Feed Me Diamonds
Ben Taylor – Listening
Youngblood Hawke – Youngblood Hawke EP
Nude Beach – II
From Atlantis – Pedestals
Jon Brion – ParaNorman soundtrack
Twitch The Ripper – Colorblind
