One of my favorite new voices in music belongs to a young Canadian by the name of Marti Sarbit, the soulful front woman of Winnipeg-based indie-pop act Imaginary Cities. The comparisons to Amy Winehouse and Duffy are understandable as she does fall into that category of female vocalists with a vintage, Motown-throwback sound, but Sarbit’s voice is truly one of a kind and warrants a listen (or five). She’ll be joined by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Rusty Matyas and the rest of Imaginary Cities — David Landreth, Ryan Voth, and Zack Antel — this Tuesday for a show at Hotel Cafe, and LA Music Blog is giving away a pair of tickets AND a super prize pack of Imaginary Cities’ swag to one lucky winner!

In addition to the pair of tickets to the show at Hotel Cafe, the winner of our Imaginary Cities contest will receive two t-shirts and a vinyl copy of the group’s critically acclaimed debut album, Temporary Resident, which has been nominated for Canada’s prestigious Polaris Prize. I particularly love the tracks “Ride This Out,” “Purple Heart,” “Cherry Blossom Tree,” and I should probably just stop there before I list every song on the album.

To enter our contest, just leave a comment below this post. The winner will be contacted on Monday, so be sure to include an email address you check often. Letting us know YOUR favorite track from Temporary Resident in your comment won’t hurt your chances of winning, and to get you started on your Imaginary Cities listening adventure, I’ve included the video for the title track on the album below. Enjoy, and good luck!
