Now that the fireworks have all been exploded and the BBQ eaten, it’s time to look forward to our post-Fourth of July weekend. Tons of great musical treats taking place here in Los Angeles, so read on for just a few of your many options.
Cisco Adler @ Saint Rocke – July 6th
Tomorrow night Cisco Adler will be playing Saint Rocke in celebration of his new solo EP release, Aloha. He’ll be joined by The Wheeland Brothers, Ikaika Beamer, Lexo The Great, and DJ SpeakeaZy, and while I’ve never been to the Hermosa Beach venue, from what I’ve heard, it sounds like the perfect location for a Cisco Adler performance: beachy, intimate, and with room for dancing.
Mates of State @ The Echo – July 7th
Saturday night, Mates of State will be taking over the Echo with their indie-pop sound. The husband-and-wife team of Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel have 14 years worth of tracks to pull from for their show, so fans will no doubt be in for at least a few surprises within the set list.
Cory Branan, Audra Mae, and Nicole Vaughn @ Slidebar – July 8th
For those of you strapped for cash by the end of the weekend, Cory Branan, Audra Mae, and Nicole Vaughn will be performing a free 21+ show at Slidebar Rock-n-Roll Cafe in Fullerton on Sunday. Little bit of a hike, but I can tell you from experience that Audra Mae alone is worth the distance. Saw her a couple of times in 2009-10, and that girl has a voice you’ll probably be able to hear in the Valley Sunday night.
