Hard Rock Café is an international music institution, a go-to destination for lovers of good food and great music. Since opening its first location in London, England on June 14, 1971, Hard Rock has become the world’s leading collector and exhibitor of rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia with over 139 cafes worldwide, including our very own Hard Rock Café – Hollywood location.

With over 70,000 pieces of memorabilia rotating throughout Hard Rock’s many locations, the extent of the collection can seems a bit overwhelming, so we decided to ask the people over at Hard Rock about their current favorite pieces decorating the Hollywood location. Read their list below, and be sure to check out the items in person next time you find yourself in Hollywood with a hunger in your belly and an itch to see music history up-close and personal.

1. Jim Morrison’s Leather Pants
These pants have no doubt been the inspiration behind many a Morrison groupie’s fantasies and are the epitome of rock star apparel. Makes total sense that Hard Rock would include them on their list.

2. Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Hat
Purple and velvet – a perfect example of something only a rock star (or a super confident pimp) could pull off, this hat is cool in pictures and I imagine pure bad-assery in person.

3. Nikki Sixx’s Harley Davidson
Doesn’t get more SoCal hard rock than Mötley Crüe. Sixx’s Harley is one of several in the Hard Rock Café collection and was featured on the cover of Girls, Girls, Girls before the Mötley Crüe co-founder had it repainted and turned over to HRC.

4. Billie Joe Armstrong’s Matador Guitar
Signed by all three members of Green Day, this guitar is an example of living history as the band continues to cement themselves as a part of pop punk culture with their upcoming ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré! triology of albums.

5. Slash Exhibit

This temporary exhibition, created to honor the placement of Slash’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 10th, includes the legendary guitarist’s leather jacket and leather pants, plus one of the three leather top hats he owns. The exhibit is only temporary because Slash still wears all three items, and they need to be returned to him when the exhibit closes. Check out the items in the exhibit now, and you might see them again on stage during future Slash performances.
