With the release of their fourth album, In Our Heads, on June 12th, and a huge Hollywood Bowl show coming up this September, it looks like it’s going to be a big summer for Hot Chip. To whet the appetite a little further, the band has released a promo video for their new single, “Night and Day.” Director Peter Serafinowicz has gone on record to state “Many animals were harmed during the making of this video. Regrettably, none of them made the final edit.”

If that statement leads you to expect something a little bit silly, then you would be right. Hot Chip’s latest slice of funky nerd-produced club music is backed by a video featuring twin spaceships, what looks like a cult of monks dressed in hoodies dancing in a library, and some rather odd choreography. Most startling of all is the near-essential sight of cult British actor Terence Stamp making an inexplicable appearance and mouthing the words “Do I look like a rapper?” with a particularly menacing look.

Enjoy the video now before the band’s first album through Domino Records is released. I have it on good authority that Hot Chip is also a fantastic live act, so try to catch them at the Bowl if you can. Tickets for that are available here.

More info on the album release is available on Hot Chip’s website.
