With the rise of folk artists like Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, and Mumford and Sons in mainstream music, the scene has become filled with budding, acoustic-heavy acts. There’s no trade off for quality because of that quantity though, particularly with Sweden native Kristian Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man On Earth.
His previous two albums — 2008’s Shallow Grave and 2010’s The Wild Hunt — feature Matsson’s uniquely raspy voice paired with an acoustic guitar, so I’m looking forward to him bringing that sound to life tonight at the Wiltern. His songs are smart, emotional, and beautiful both lyrically and musically. This is the song that won me over:
Today also marks the release of Matsson’s third LP, There’s No Leaving Now , produced by Matsson himself and released through Dead Ocean. It will surely be an unforgettable night for both Matsson and his fans, so make sure to get your tickets here. I’ll see you there!
