Instrumentalist Nick Zammuto of sound collage duo The Books had been prepping for the release of his self-titled solo debut for at least a year, putting out demos of tracks that would later appear on the album. Now that Zammuto finally saw a release earlier this month (check out our review), Nick and his bandmates are ready to make an appearance at The Glass House in Pomona tomorrow, and they couldn’t have picked a better venue.
Zammuto’s unique craftsmanship will be witnessed at The Glass House, which is a perfectly personal venue that brings the liveliness of a performance closer to the audience, subsequently deepening the musical connection between artists and concert-goers. Zammuto will be opening for labelmates Explosions In The Sky, whose post-rock instrumentals serve quite complementary to Zammuto’s experimentalist tendencies.
Unfortunately, it looks as though this is a sold-out event, but you can still catch Zammuto at six other shows throughout April. I’ll be at The Glasshouse tomorrow night to not only review the show but also to interview Nick, whom I’m sure has some pretty articulate things to say about this year-long experience.
You can check out a video of Nick’s homemade craft called “A Day With Nick Zammuto” by Matt Day from his Naked Musicians series, and be sure to listen to Zammuto’s self-titled LP, which is out now on Temporary Residence. You can also find the remaining U.S. tour dates down below.
