“Famously bipolar” violinist, author, and fashion icon Emilie Autumn is bringing herself and her inner demons to SoCal February 2nd and 3rd for shows at Pomona’s Glasshouse and El Rey Theater, respectively. Never heard of her? That could be because Emilie spends more time entertaining the cultured European masses who seem to appreciate and understand her Victorian-esque, morbid, electronic circus music more than the inhabitants of her sunny Los Angeles birthplace.
Thankfully, Autumn never forgot where she came from and has decided to haunt LA with a couple of shows in February. I can’t wait to watch her glam-rock, burlesque circus, complete with her scantily-clad backup singers, the Bloody Crumpets. I also can’t wait to be lulled by her electric violin, her harpsichord, her songs of revenge and remorse…and did I mention the scantily-clad backup dancers? I wonder what corsets they are going to don at the El Rey. Will I be smiling or crying at the end of the night? I’m not sure, but you better be there either way because Emilie is a fucking talented artist, and she’s also hot. You can’t lose. And I’ll wear a corset too. Why not?
