VV Brown, one of my favorite artists from across the pond, has announced this week that she’ll be releasing her second album on Capitol Records, uh…soon. Yeah, the announcement didn’t exactly include many details, like the release date or the name of the album, but it did include a link to the artist’s website where a new web series is being used to get all that pertinent information to the masses.
What I can tell you from the press release is that the new effort will feature collaborations with everyone from writers Evan Bogart (Beyonce) and Jean Baptiste (Black Eyed Peas) to Ne-Yo collaborator Chuck Harmony and Chiddy (of Chiddy Bang). Quite the lineup! The eclectic artist began putting together the pieces of the new album while touring in support of her debut, 2010’s Traveling Like The Light, which featured the hit song “Shark In The Water.” Regarding the writing of the new album, VV says, “I was going to the kind of experimental place I hadn’t been before. It felt like growing up. I felt freer.”
I loved her fearlessness when it came to flitting between genres on Traveling… and can’t wait to see where she takes the music on her sophomore effort. Check out a teaser for the new album below, and if you haven’t experienced a VV Brown live show yet, definitely plan to hit one of her two LA dates this November. Miss Brown puts on one hell of a performance.
