This past October, I caught Neon Trees perform as part of Citywalk’s Plugged-In Concert Series, and the free event was such a success, they’ve decided to build a permanent stage and host more concerts!

Citywalk’s “5 Towers” concert venue will be in full effect all summer, featuring a technologically advanced staging system equipped with thousands of LED fixtures, motion capture sensors, five soaring 42-foot light tower sculptures, a massive video monitor, and a state-of-the-art audio system. Gracing the new stage next Thursday night will be none other than Mr. F**k You himself, Cee Lo Green!

Cee Lo’s free concert will start at 8 pm on July 7, but if you’re looking for something to do tonight, you can check out Later Days and Elvis Monroe on the new stage. These shows will be happening on Friday nights from 7-10 pm and will highlight a collection of the station’s top picks of LA’s most promising local bands.

In addition to getting a chance to play on this state-of-the-art stage, each band in the series will receive an aptly named “Starving Artist” grant from the radio station, which includes a cash grant, professional photo shoot, new equipment, studio time, and the best prize of all, a featured article here on LA Music Blog! (OK, so maybe I’m biased.)

Check out all the events below and keep an eye out for our coverage of the bands in the “Close to Home” series!
