The Vaccines, possibly the best new alt-Brit band, are set to release their debut album, What Do You Expect From The Vaccines?, through Columbia Records on May 31. Comprised of Justin Young (vocals), Anri Hjorvar (bass), Freddie Cowan (guitar, younger brother of Tom from The Horrors) and Pete Robertson (drums), the band has drawn comparisons to bands like The Ramones, The Smiths, and The Libertines. The group members themselves list their influences as “’50s rock ‘n’ roll, ’60s garage and girl groups, ’70s punk, ’80s American hardcore, C86 and good pop music,” providing a little something for everyone.
The Vaccines dropped by Daytrotter’s studios in Rock Island, Illinois earlier this year to perform a few tracks from their new album. Those who preorder the album will also receive a limited-edition autographed booklet from the band.
The group will be making their American network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday, June 7th. They have a tour lined up in the States that kicks off in Washington DC May 17 supporting the Arctic Monkeys. The tour comes to an end on June 3rd in Los Angeles at The Hollywood Palladium, so pick up your tickets for what’s sure to be an amazing show.
