Record Store Day was founded in 2007 and originally conceived by Chris Brown. With the help of Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave, and Brian Poehner, the event became a reality and is currently celebrated by over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA alone, and hundreds throughout the rest of the world.

Throughout the Record Store Day events and activities, artists and record stores alike come together to celebrate “the art of music.” Celebrated the third Saturday of every April, the annual event features an assortment of special releases and reissues made exclusively for the day, as well as in-store performance, cook-outs, meet & greets, and more.
