From the ashes of Pantera rose Damageplan, the Abbott brothers’ second attempt at bringing heavy metal back to the masses. Although the band featured two of music’s most talented performers, they spent the majority of their existence in the shadow of Pantera and all that they had accomplished.

From the get-go, fans had a hard time accepting the band as a new entity, as Dimebag and Vinnie were best known for their roles in one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time. Although Damageplan had a collection of songs to perform from their debut release, New Found Power, the fans always wanted to hear Pantera, which clearly, the brothers recognized.
Accordingly, previously unseen footage has just been released of Damageplan rehearsing the Pantera classic “This Love” in October 2004. The rehearsal took place at guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott’s personal home studio, just two months prior to his onstage murder at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. The footage can be viewed below:
While the band’s manager has confirmed that there are unreleased Damageplan recordings, they unfortunately have yet to surface, and the band has not performed since the horrific incident. Vinnie and Damageplan bassist Robert Kakaha, better known as Bob Zilla, have since joined Hellyeah, and frontman Pat Lachman joined The Mercy Clinic.
