Things teenagers do: listen to music, socialize, avoid homework

Things teenagers usually don’t do: give to charities

For the ninth year in a row, Sub City Records is trying to change that generalization via their Take Action Tour. This annual tour is intended to raise funds and awareness within the youth community for non-profit organizations, and this year’s tour will focus on 14-year-old Leukemia survivor Patrick Pedraja and his Driving for Donors organization. The mission of the organization is to sign people up for the National Marrow Registry, which helps patients in need of a transplant find life-saving bone marrow matches.

Take Action Tour

This year’s tour is sponsored by Hot Topic and will feature artists We the Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket to the Moon, There for Tomorrow, and Stereo Skyline (beginning February 12th). Co-sponsors of the tour include MySpace Music, Alternative Press Magazine, Absolutepunk.net, Hopeless Records, S-Curve Records, Atlantic Records, and Fueled By Ramen Records. 10 percent of the cost of each ticket sold is donated to further the Driving for Donors organization so pick up your ticket today and tell your parents you were too busy doing charity work to get around to that math homework. I’m sure they’ll understand.

Kristin Houser’s parents were taking her to concerts while she was still in the womb and thus her love of all things musical was born before she was. If music isn’t within earshot, she sings, so it’s probably best for everyone that music is usually playing whenever she’s around.
