If a Quentin Tarantino movie were to somehow breed with the 1980s goth/psychedelic rock scene to form a band, it would come out sounding something like A Place to Bury Strangers. Having been affectionately dubbed, “New York’s LOUDEST band” by various publications, these boys refuse to be passed by. Just ask Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor; he dug the boys so much he took them on tour.

APTBS

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, the trio of Oliver Ackermann, Jonathan Smith, and Jay Space have given the scene a little something new to look forward to, almost a breath of fresh air. It is easy to lose yourself in the grinding guitars, hypnotic vocals, and over all schizophrenic sound that comprises APTBS “Exploding Head.” Anyone who tries to duplicate the group’s sound will not have an easy time of it, possibly because the frontman has designed and built specific effects for the group to use. To help others achieve a little of the magic that is APTBS, the unique little noisemakers are available for purchase online: deathbyaudio.net.

The band’s talent does truly seem to be unlimited, and I believe this trio has just scratched the surface of what they are going to do for music lovers everywhere. Though they are not for the faint of heart or your average mainstream listener, I HIGHLY recommend these boys, so grab your nearest goth buddy and have a little giggle with A Place to Bury Strangers.
